The General Society of the War of 1812 in the State of Texas

The General Society of the War of 1812 in the State of Texas was chartered on  May 3, 1987 in Houston, Texas at the Society’s first Convention and organizational chartering meeting.  Joseph M. Clark, Jr. from Houston,  was the president at that time. While 1987 was when the Society Chater was approved, the society actually had been in existence since 1959 when Colonel Frederick Huntington of Houston was elected President of the newly organized group.
